PointsPick's database includes 6,569 merchants with verified MCC code mappings. This covers major national chains, regional brands, and online retailers across all spending categories.
How many credit cards are tracked?+
PointsPick tracks 174 active credit cards from major U.S. issuers. We monitor 1,013 individual bonus rate records across 981 MCC categories.
How often is the data updated?+
Our database is updated continuously as credit card issuers announce changes to bonus categories and reward rates. The MCC code database follows the ISO 18245 standard and is updated when payment networks publish revisions. Last full refresh: March 2026.
Can I use this data for free?+
Yes. The PointsPick dataset is available for free via our GitHub repository and JSON API. CSV files, JSON exports, and the static API (no auth required) are all freely accessible. We ask for attribution — a link back to PointsPick — when you publish data derived from our database.
